The State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (f/k/a State Board of Proprietary School Registration) monitors and regulates Ohio’s private post-secondary career colleges and schools to ensure compliance with minimum standards set by Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3332. During fiscal year 2020, the Board registered 220 schools and approved over 900 programs.
The Board consists of eight members: the Superintendent of Public Instruction or their designee, the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education or their designee, and five members appointed by the Governor. The Board currently has regular board meetings six times a year, generally in Columbus, although the Board does occasionally meet in other parts of the State.
